Come to Slough Library and enjoy some adorable craft and story sessions on a spring theme of chicks, eggs, sheep and bunnies at all Slough’s libraries for children and families. Download the Spring holiday events leaflet

Join the world's largest book group - CityRead London AND Slough, events throughout April around reading and Gillian Slovo's book 10 days

As well as our events for children and families we will be hosting a series of events in April for adults and Teenagers as part of celebrations for CityRead London and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

Look out for:

  • Monday 4 April 11am, Slough Library – Talk with Orange Prize nominated author Gillian Slovo about her new book 10 Days
  • Tuesday 19 April 6.30pm, Slough Library – Youth Question Time – Getting your voice heard with Aik Saath

Slough between wars - find out about Slough's local history with historian Grant Masom Thursday 7 April 2pm Slough Library

Slough between the wars – a local history talk with Grant Masom

On Thursday 7 April at 2pm local historian Grant Masom will be talking about what Slough was like between the wars.

For many parts of the country, the interwar years saw economic depression and high unemployment. Slough, however, was seen as something of a miracle town – creating thousands of new jobs, and attracting people from all parts of the country. This talk will explore the reasons, the people who came, and the sort of town that resulted.

Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.

Shakespeare for the family - 3 plays in 45 minutes - buy your tickets for Friday 15 April 4pm

All the world’s a stage – 3 Shakespeare plays in 45 minutes!

It’s 400 years since Shakespeare died, and to celebrate Slough Libraries are hosting a special performance of Shakespeare with performer John Kirk. Whizz through Romeo and Juliet, A midsummer night’s dream and Henry 5 in 45 minutes! Visit Slough Library on Friday 15 April 4pm.

The performance will be fun for the whole family but is best suited to children aged 6 and above.

Tickets are available now from Slough Library. £5 for adults, £3 for children, under 3s go free.

Volunteer this summer with Slough Libraries

Aged 14 and above? Volunteer in Slough, Langley, Cippenham or Britwell Library this summer

Are you aged 14 and above? Like to gain some experience of working with children in libraries and make new friends?

We are now open for applications to volunteer as a Summer volunteer. Fill in the application form and hand it in to the library where you would like to volunteer

e.g. Slough Library, Langley Library, Cippenham Library or Britwell Library.

Applications must be submitted by Saturday 11 June 2016.

Teen Book Club next meeting in Slough Library Sat 23 January 2016 2-3pm

If you love reading and you are a young person in secondary school, why not come along to Slough Library’s next Teen Book Club session?

Next session is Saturday 2 April 2-3pm when we will be having more reading related fun.

Asian readers’ group

Asian Readers Group starting Wednesday 2 December 1.30pmSlough Library is looking for keen readers who would like to share their passion for reading and sharing books in some of Slough’s key community languages – Hindi, Panjabi, Urdu. The group is being set up with the support of ALAG – Asian Librarians and Advisers Group.

Sessions will be held at 1.30pm on the first Wednesday of the month. Next session is Wednesday 6 April!

Come along and join in.

New e-book service for library customers has arrived

There are now lots more e-books and e-audiobooks available to borrow with your Slough Libraries card.
