Back to normal scheduled collections from Monday 18 January 2016.
When nomal collections resume you can refer to your refuse and recycling collection days.
Please check if any waste can be recycled. You can use your red bin for all your paper, card, thin paper, cans and tins, plastic and glass bottles and jars. They have to be loose and not in bags.
Green bin scheme
If you are a member of the green bin scheme please refer to your garden waste collection calendar which can be downloaded from the find bin collection days pages.
Please note that the garden waste collection service is suspended from the end of November until the beginning of March.

Excess rubbish and items that won’t fit in bins should be taken to Chalvey Household Waste and Recycling Centre, which will be open from 9am-5pm every day except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Residents are reminded to recycle as much as they can over the holidays – Christmas cards, wrapping paper, cardboard packaging and boxes, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, food and drink cans should all go in the red recycling bins.
If you’ve got a real Christmas tree this year and you can’t compost it (the most environmentally conscious way to dispose of it) or take it to the household waste and recycling centre, a real tree collection service is available to Slough residents between 6 and 15 January 2016.
Real Christmas trees can be recycled via the real tree collection service available to Slough residents between Wednesday 6 and Friday 15 January 2016.
- To book a Christmas tree collection, please contact our waste collection contractor Amey on 0800 634 6301 or 01753 518555, three working days before your scheduled collection day or you can take it to the Chalvey Household Waste Recycling Centre.
- Trees will be collected on the same day as your scheduled waste and recycling collections. Please put the tree out next to your wheeled bins by 7am.
- Make sure that all decorations, tree stands, soil, pots and netting have been removed as these cannot be composted. Please cut larger trees in half to make it more manageable.
Please note this is a temporary service and collections will be made independently to your scheduled kerbside collections.
What happens to the trees we collect?
They are either composted or turned into chippings which will be used as a mulch to spread on the flower beds. Mulch will suppress weed growth and help the soil to retain moisture.
What can I do with an artificial tree?
Unfortunately, due to the combination of materials used to make an artificial tree, you are unable to recycle it. However, if it is still in good condition when you decide to replace it, why not ask friends and family, or donate it to charity so someone else can use it or you can take it to the Chalvey Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Please contact the council’s waste contractor Amey on 0800 634 6301 with any queries or visitwww.slough.gov.uk/recycling
