World War I Commemoration

The Parish Council have announced a World War I commemoration event set for Saturday, July 26, 2 days before the centenary of the outbreak of The Great War.


The event is being organised in conjunction with the CRA and will feature:

  • The unveiling of a plaque to the Colnbrook fallen which will be affixed to the Diamond Jubilee Clock, which will now double as a second war memorial.   The names of those who died during 1914-18 will be taken from the existing war memorial in St Thomas’ Church.
  • A wreath-laying ceremony at the Clock in conjunction with a bugler and brass band. Anyone wishing to lay a wreath during the ceremony should contact a member of the Parish Council.
  • A memorial service at St Thomas’ Church, which will include a programme of readings, poems and hymns, conducted by the Area Dean, Rod Cosh.
  • Food and refreshments will be served immediately after.

Over 200 people are expected to attend this event.
